Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions that may help you:
Q. I HAVE NO FOOD AND NO MONEY. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GET HELP FROM THE FOODBANK?
Q. I HAVE NO CONTACT WITH ANY OF THE AGENCIES LISTED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
A. Please contact the Local Welfare Assistance by telephone only. Telephone number 01228 221100. They will advise if you are illegible for a foodbank.
Q. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE BEEN REFERRED?
A. You should go to the Foodbank: 4 Tower Court, West Tower Street, Carlisle CA3 8QT on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. Your Referrer will give you a time to collect your parcel. (Carlisle Foodbank is not open on Bank Holidays).
Q. WHAT WILL I GET?
A. You will be given a parcel of food appropriate to your needs. This will contain, so far as we have the supplies, enough food for three days. You will need to be referred each time you visit.
Q. BECAUSE OF MEDICAL REASONS I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS. WILL I BE ABLE TO GET APPROPRIATE FOOD?
A. We will try and give you appropriate food for you. All our food is donated so we cannot guarantee that we will be able to give you exactly what you require but we will do our best.
Q. I HAVE RECEIVED THREE PARCELS BUT I AM STILL IN CRISIS. WHAT HAPPENS THEN?
A. Unfortunately, the Foodbank cannot help on a long-term basis. We do not have enough food. It is a matter for your referral agency to make long-term provisions for you.
Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM UNABLE TO VISIT THE FOODBANK?
A. Your support worker will be able to telephone us to make convenient arrangements.
